HOUSE OF DOOM SLOT GAME OVERVIEW
House of Doom is Play’n Go’s latest offering, a heavy metal- themed horror game featuring all manner of ghoulish symbology, such as skulls, pentagrams, barbed wire crosses, ram skulls and other evocative gothic imagery, to create a foreboding and oppressive backdrop.
The Wild symbol, as represented by a ‘Seer’ symbol, may substitute for any symbol, except scatters. What makes this particular Wild symbol unique is its ability to fully expand when it lands on a highlighted reel.
Highlighted reels surface on every spin, and when combined with the Seer Wild will expand the entire reel it is on, providing the opportunity for some incredibly handsome rewards.
Doom Spins are undeniably the game’s central focus. Scatter symbols, known here as House of Doom symbols, will preside over reels 1,3 and 5, and when all three appear in unison will trigger the free spins feature, granting the player 10 spins with which to wreak havoc.
Additionally, the once-scatter symbol will now transform into a potent Wild, meaning that every House of Doom symbol now has even greater purpose, and capable of combining for some terrifyingly stupendous combos!
Not content with this, reels 1, 3 and 5 will also be kitted out with a new symbol, known as the ‘House of Symbol’ scatter, that may retrigger the bonus upon collecting a further 3 in tandem. These will apportion even more free spins, and can go on indefinitely!
Furthermore, any of reels 2 to 5 can be highlighted during the feature, thus allowing any Wild and/ or House of Doom symbol to expand the entire reel. It is therefore possible to create 5 full-reel Wilds on every spin, theoretically, and makes this one of PnG’s most creative features to date, with staggering payouts going anything up to 2500x one’s stake!
Also to be found is the ‘Skulls of Abyss’ Bonus Game, which is triggered by a skull symbol, perched in the middle 2,3 and 4 reels, and is what’s more commonly known as a Pick Me type feature. One skull is selected, and picking a ‘winner’ will permit the player to carry on selecting, and will reveal a cash prize, stake size reward, or may even take the joyous player straight into the House of Doom spins, as the end goal. ‘Pick Again’ symbols are 1x, 2x, 3x, whilst the latter, ‘End’ symbols towards the feature’s conclusion are 5x, 20x, or the aforementioned holy grail, the HoD scatter!
Thematically, this game is very nicely realized and has a lot going for it. The base game does enough to sustain one’s interest for long intervals, and is livened up by the popular, Twin spin-esque highlight reels and rocking soundtrack. Visually endearing, it never strays far from arresting, and captivates the player from the outset, while the game, not pretending to be high- variance, does a sterling job in allowing phenomenal wins that put it snugly into the medium variance category, without ever damaging the player’s bankroll and remaining, ultimately, fun.
